Buying Loose Diamonds
Buying loose diamonds may sound daunting but it is a rather simple and very cost effective way to buy a diamond if you keep a few basics in mind:
• Always make sure the loose diamond you purchase has a diamond certificate.
• Ensure the diamond certificate is from a well known and respected diamond grading laboratory.
• A diamond grading laboratory that is well known throughout the world is preferable so that your diamond’s characteristics can be easily interpreted and understood by anyone familiar with diamonds, and diamond characteristics, anywhere in the world.
Loose diamonds are very much a commoditised product. Just like gold or platinum or any other commodity. When you compare apples with apples, it is fairly easy to make an accurate comparison. If you are looking at two loose diamonds each with a diamond certificate from the same diamond grading laboratory and if each diamond has precisely the same diamond characteristics, then it should be easy to establish which diamond has value (is worth buying), and which does not.
There are several advantages to buying a loose diamond:
• If you do your research well you will probably buy the diamond cheaper than if acquired setup in a piece of jewellery (because when it is setup in a piece of jewellery you will be charged for the entire piece of jewellery and will not be able to calculate how much the diamond on its own costs).
• You have better control of the type of diamond you buy when you buy it loose (you are able to choose with complete transparency when the diamond is loose).
• Buying a diamond loose means you decide your diamonds characteristics (4C’s). Tataza Diamonds offers complete transparency; we present all the certificate and diamond characteristics information about our diamonds on this website so that you are able to make an informed decision. You can choose a diamond with the diamond characteristics you prefer.
• Buying a diamond loose means you can also have a direct say in the design of the piece of jewellery you require. If you pick a good jeweller you can have your exact dream piece created versus buying jewellery someone else has designed.
