Diamonds

Diamond is carbon such that the carbon atoms are arranged in an isometric-hexoctahedral crystal lattice. Due their hardness and excellent dispersion of light diamonds are perfect for use in industrial applications as well as for use in jewellery.

The word diamond originates from the ancient Greek word adamas.

First recognized and mined in India over 3000 years ago diamonds have been known in various cultures for both their gemmological and industrial uses.

Through the centuries, various diamond cuts have been introduced with an emphasis on exhibiting the diamonds fire and brilliance. In the early 1900’s Marcel Tolkowsky created the ideal round brilliant cut design that set the standard for modern gems. Over the passage of time diamond cuts continued to be refined and perfected.

The diamond four C’s (or 4Cs) of cut, colourclarity and carat weight determine a diamonds value.
